Rainrace Network - Geir Oddsson
Geir Oddsson has been extensively involved in developing and implementing IT solutions for complex management situations over the last few years, both in Academia and in the private sector. Many of his current research and other projects focus on the use of georeferenced data in decision making.
Geir Oddsson has over ten years experience working on research and consulting projects for bilateral and international agencies in developing countries, especially Africa but also the Americas, South East Asia and the Middle East.
Geir Oddsson has over the last three years led the development of an integrated catastrophe risk assessment system for the Icelandic Catastrophe Insurance Company, in cooperation with the University of Iceland and Guy Carpenter Inc.
Geir Oddsson is currently the director of the Environmental Research Institute of the University of Iceland and teaches courses on natural resources, natural resource management, EIA and more at the University of Iceland and the United Nations University.
Geir Oddsson is a co-founder of the software company Landmat Inc. and is currently on the Board of Directors of three IT startup companies.
